COVID-19 has kept us locked in homes. Couples living together are leveraging the lockdown to relax and get intimate. Couples are enjoying this time to strengthen their bond. But what about singles or couples who are not living in the same house? Sexual intercourse can infect you with COVID-19. As a result, the government in the UK has made it illegal for couples who are living apart to have sex.

As per the study conducted by Harvard University in the USA, it is advisable for couples to wear the mask during intercourse. This means you can’t kiss your partner. It is strictly prohibited. SARS-CoV-2 Era titled study, also states the couples should also take other preventive steps after the coitus.

It advises couples to take a shower before and after the sex and clean the room/ bed with alcohol wipes or soaps. Men must wear condoms during sex as they might have traces of coronavirus in their semen.

What is the safest approach?

As per the study “not having sex” is the safest way to stay safe from the coronavirus infection. To satiate your sexual desires, you can indulge in masturbation after sanitizing your hands. The study also advises having “remote sexual activity” to balance physical needs with personal safety.

The study also advises couples to engage in telephonic, video, or chat conversations through encrypted platforms. However, the risk of taking screenshots can’t be denied. Therefore, indulge in such activities with a partner that you know for a long period of time.

However, researchers also concluded that not having sex is not achievable. In such a scenario, the safest approach would be to have sex with a partner who is in quarantine with you.
